Honda City Review: Specifications, Price, Mileage and Safety Features

Honda City made its debut in 1981 but the model was withdrawn back in 1994. After two years, in 1996 the company retrieved the product once again by changing the nameplate. Including India, the production of the model takes place in nine countries and is sold in forty-five nations world-wide. Since its launch till the mid of 2009, Honda had sold more than 1.2 million units of this sedan in 45 nations.

The latest generation car is equipped with 1.5 liter, four-cylinder (with four valves per cylinder) petrol engine with the displacement of 1497 cc with innovative i-VTEC technology that assures to give brilliant performance. Apart from that, it is Bharat Stage IV Emission Norms, Euro IV emission levels and E10 complaint. The engine is powerful and promises to give brilliant fuel efficiency, distinctive output. The automatic gearbox version comes with paddle shift that keeps the control handy, in turn ensures a smooth and stunning drive. The advanced i-VTEC with EFI technology offers best performance and increased fuel efficiency, which helps it to offer a mileage of 14 kmpl in city and on highway gives a mileage of 17 kmpl which makes it one of most fuel efficient cars in its segment.

The colors available in India are - urban titanium metallic, deep sapphire blue, tafoca white, alabaster silver metallic, crystal black pearl, bold beige metallic, polished metal metallic and habanaro red pearl. The Honda City price ranges between 8.61 lacs and 10.87 lacs rupees depending on the variant, its major competitors are Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna and Maruti SX4.

One of the distinctive safety features of this car is that it is loaded with innovative pedestrian safety, specially designed fenders, front grille and windshield support to prevent the impact of pedestrian collision. Honda City has other safety features like Anti Breaking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), active headrests, dual SRS airbags, G-CON body with crush-resistant survival zone and pre-tensioner seatbelts.
